Lab

Our lab is located at the Aquatic Biology and Environmental Science (ABES) building, near the UCD research fields and barns west of Highway 113. The ABES facility operates as the Center for Aquatic Biology and Aquaculture (CABA), and is responsible for the supervision and maintenance of equipment and 26,000 square feet of lab space occupied by UCD researchers and their study animals. Field gear is kept in our three 20’ storage containers, and our lab room is equipped for activities such as aquatic insect sample processing, specimen slide mounting, finfish dissections, flourometry, and lipid profile determination. Finfish husbandry space and equipment are provided by the ABES managment.

Collaborating campus departments provide access to their facilities and specialized instruments to AEAL staff and students.

Offices

Analytical work is conducted at our main office, located in an off-campus business park in south Davis at 1490 Drew Avenue, Suite 150. Housed at the “Drew Office” are our aquatic invertebrate identification group, GIS workstation, microscope imaging stations, conference room, and staff and graduate student offices.

Our administrative offices are currently housed on the UC Davis main campus in the Center for Watershed Sciences building, which was unveiled in October 2005. AEAL director Dr. Michael Johnson also serves as an Associate Director of the Center for Watershed Sciences.
